| White Gates is a privately owned purpose-built
nursing home for the elderly (those aged sixty and over)
which fully complies with all requirements of the National
Minimum Standards. The building is set in beautifully landscaped
gardens with paved walkways and a large patio with seating
that can be enjoyed in finer weather. The accommodation
is arranged over two floors serviced by a lift specially
designed for use in nursing homes. |
|
All residents have a single private bedroom
for which they may hold a key if they wish. There are thirty-eight
rooms in all, three of which have en suite facilities.
|
|
Those rooms
without en suite have a sink and vanity unit. Many of the
rooms have views over the gardens or of the pretty village
of Laleham. All rooms are fully carpeted with their own
television and telephone upon which residents may make and
receive calls in private. Any post that arrives for a resident
is, unless expressly requested by a resident's relative,
presented to them unopened in their room.
All rooms come fully furnished (including fully adjustable
profiling electronic beds) but residents are welcome, so
far as it is practicable to do so, to bring their own furniture
with them. Residents may spend as much time as they wish
in their rooms but are generally encouraged to spend time
each day in the communal spaces. every room, as well as
each of the lounges, the toilets and bathrooms, is fitted
with a nurse call bell system which indicates to staff that
assistance is required. |

|
| |
| Confidentiality |
| Staff are trained to ensure residents' privacy
and dignity at all times whilst undertaking the activities of
daily life. This includes always knocking on resident's doors
before entering. All aspects of the resident's private lives and
their medical needs are treated as strictly confidential. It is
part of the contract of each member of staff that this must be
so whether they are at work or not, whether they continue to be
employed by us or not. This confidentiality continues even after
a resident leaves the home or dies. All records relating to residents
are kept in secure filing cabinets. |
| |
| Guests |
| Residents are at liberty to receive guests
(unless we have recorded instructions from a resident or their
family to the contrary) at any reasonable time of the day. Guests
may be received in the privacy of the resident's room or in any
of the communal spaces in the home. Key workers are available
to help resident's write letters and cards if required so that
they can maintain correspondence. |
| |
| Residents' Rights |
| We believe that our residents have the right
